There is plenty to see and do at Red Sands Country Lodge.

Wine & Dine

Well known for and particularly popular are the delicious meals and refreshing drinks served at the Red Sands fully licenced restaurant – ‘Kaufmann’s Kitchen’.

Swimming Pool

we have an onsite swimming pool with sun-loungers and umbrellas.
This is strictly for use by houseguests only.

Walkabout

Either peacefully hike or trail-run through our inner-lodge 1.2km winding meander.
With it’s almost ‘secret bush garden feel’, you will witness beautiful views of the lodge and hills, local antelope, amazing indigenous trees and plants and wondrous rock formations. Keep your eyes on the ground for interesting reptiles and insects.

The Moffat Mission Museum

Moffat Lane. Dr Robert Moffat and his wife, Mary, arrived in Kuruman from Scotland in 1820. The Moffat Church was completed in 1838 and, for years, was the largest building in the Northern Cape. The marriage of their daughter, Mary, to explorer David Livingstone took place in the church, declared a national monument in 1939.

The Eye of Kuruman

The town is home to a famous natural geological feature known as the Eye of Kuruman, said to be one of the biggest natural springs in the southern hemisphere. The Tswana name for the fountain is Ga-segonyana (“calabash”). The first European to discover the spring, in 1801, was English artist Samuel Daniell, who was part of the Truter-Somerville expedition to meet the southern Tswana people.

The Sishen Mine Golf Course

This excellent 18 hole golf course attracts avid golfers from far and wide. The acacia trees remind one of the arid area, while green rolling rolls provide a pleasant oasis.
